Emerging mobile markets in countries such as India are increasingly of interest to British mobile companies and technology developers.
UK Technology LIVE has also seen an increasing number of innovative mobile devices, applications and solutions at this year’s Mobile World Congress that are specifically designed to help those living in developing countries at levels close to (or often below) the poverty line.
In addition to this, there is also a growing market for UK technology firms looking to outsource work to Indian companies, who can often provide cost-effective solutions for their businesses.
One person who is particularly keen to promote trade between Indian companies and British mobile technology specialists is UKTI’s Mukul Verma, the Senior Trade and Investment Adviser for UK Trade and Investment in Delhi in India.
Verma told us that he is at Mobile World Congress 2010 “working with and looking for UK companies who want to go to India and to work with Indian companies to develop new mobile innovations.”
This year’s show has been, in Verma’s opinion, “one of the best shows I’ve been to, it is probably the top show in the world now in terms of the kinds of companies that are represented,” plus, he adds, “from my point of view the range of UK companies here are top notch.
“They are also all represented by their top people, which means that you can find the decision makers right there on the stands.”
