Scottish Development International (SDI) is the trade and investment arm of the Scottish Government.
SDI has two main functions, the first is to assist overseas companies to invest in Scotland and the second is to help Scottish companies do more business overseas.
UK Technology LIVE spoke with Tony Ianniello, MD of Scottish company Premium Mobile Distribution, who told us: “SDI’s participation here is fantastic for an SME like us, because it offers us access to a range of services, contacts and networks which we would not have access to otherwise.”
For SME’s such as Ianniello, “it has been invaluable to be able to use the SDI stand at Mobile World Congress as a conduit to talk to some major players in what is now the biggest global show in the industry.
SDI has a network of offices around the world and provides a wide range of support services covering each phase of international activity, including: advice, business mentoring, market intelligence, business location information and investor aftercare.
SDI is being supported at MWC 2010 by three of its partner organisations, TalentScotland, Enterprise Europe Network and Wireless Innovation .
“Mobile World Congress is just fantastic this year,” adds Ianniello. “The format of the SDI stand has been great. A lot of traffic and some great meetings. ”
There are 18 Scottish technology companies in attendance at this year’s show:
· Ciqual
· Jabil
